![]() ![]() To help you along and avoid embarrassment, here‘s a nifty little move cheatsheet that’s also printer-friendly. If you want to find folks to have a ‘Net-match with, fire up your IRC client and connect to friendly foes can be found in the #vp channel. Alternatively, you may use a program such as AppLocale. Don’t worry, your system will still be readable. For those who are uncertain, go to Start, Control Panel, Region and Language, change it under the ‘Format’ tab and then reboot. Possibly the most foolproof method is to change your system’s locale to Japanese. Vanguard Princess is Windows-only, and getting it to work on non-Japanese systems is a bit more of a chore than it has to be. The fighting style is somewhat reminiscent of BlazBlue and Melty Blood and it even supports PS3 controllers. If you haven’t figured it out already, the game is a 2D doujin fighter featuring an all-female cast of anime characters with offbeat-yet-creative costumes, over-the-top moves and assorted sidekicks to spice up the combat. That certainly explains the excellent sprite-work, the distinctly Street Fighter-esque gameplay and the overall polished presentation. I don't believe that character will get released for this installment of the game, since the publisher didn't likely have any agreement with the developer for her.Free indie game Vanguard Princess is the creation of ex-Capcom employee Tomoaki Sugeno. Perhaps it was also decided that the engine this game used was just too outdated for another installment, and porting everything to a new platform could be a challenge. For a new, proper sequel, they'd probably also want to bump the graphics up to HD quality, which would require at least doubling the dimensions of all sprites and going through the painstaking process of filling in additional detail for every animation frame, of which there are a ton, even without counting any new characters. A proper sequel could someday be released, but EigoManga wouldn't necessarily be the ones publishing it anyway. The only way we would likely see Rikako in this game would be if a sequel were definitively canceled, and if the sprite-work for all her animations was completed, and the publisher was to purchase the rights to add her from the developer, but the chances of that happening seem rather low. She was intended for Prime, which was to be an expanded semi-sequel, but that apparently either got abandoned or set aside indefinitely. Or maybe the original creator is treating it as a side project, and development is just extremely slow-going. Well, keep in mind we DID get the Hilda update and the Lilith update.Hopefully a Prime update will come soon. ![]()
